Hello!

This is Kenta.

After seeing so many thresher sharks over the past few days, we were all pretty satisfied, so today we headed to Gato Island.

There’s a cave there, but it’s currently closed due to last year’s earthquake until its safety can be confirmed.

We were able to go near the entrance/exit area, and when we did, a big whitetip shark was cruising around.

After that, we even spotted a rare baby bamboo shark—it was really cute.

I don’t think you can see those very often around here.

It was our first time back at Gato in a while, and it was a lot of fun.

The cave photos are from the past, just for reference.

We went thresher shark diving again today. Just like yesterday, we saw plenty of threshers—absolutely amazing! There was also a huge wall of tuna offshore again today.

Tomorrow, we’re heading to Gato Island! Looking forward to it!

This morning we did two dives at Kimod Shoal

Avoiding the crowds and with perfect timing, we managed to see four sharks in our view at once—everyone was thrilled!

There was also one with a noticeably big belly

In the afternoon, we took it slow with a relaxed dive at the house reef.

Lately, we’ve been dealing with scheduled power outages almost every day, with electricity cut off until around 9 PM.

What’s frustrating is that the shops on both sides of us still have power, while only ours gets shut off.

I really wish this could be handled more fairly.

It’s a big problem since we can’t charge our tanks.

Quite a tough situation.

We had another great thresher shark morning today.
The visibility improved significantly compared to yesterday—easily over 20 meters.

Unlike the first dive yesterday, from the moment we entered the water until our safety stop, there were threshers constantly in sight the whole time. It felt like we were watching them non-stop!

There were so many today—seriously impressive.
After that, we headed to Monad Shoal to try for a tiger shark.

Right after entry, there were whitetip sharks everywhere, and then—out of nowhere—a much larger body appeared… a tiger shark!

We didn’t get to watch it for long, but it smoothly passed right beside us.

Wish it would circle around like the threshers do during cleaning!

It was an awesome dive—thanks so much!

Hello,
This is Kenta.
Today, I would like to write about a recent equipment issue so that we can prevent similar problems from happening in the future.
Three days ago, we had returning guests visit us. During the first dive, there were multiple issues with the rental equipment. The dump valve string on the BCD was broken, and the inflator had some salt buildup, causing it to slowly and continuously add air. Unfortunately, the guide did not notice the air inflating and proceeded with the entry.
Even when trying to release the air, it kept inflating, which caused the diver to become positively buoyant. Shortly after descending, their legs started to float upward, and despite trying hard to go down, they kept rising. The guest remained calm and managed to ascend to the surface on their own. However, the local guide assumed that the boatman would take care of the guest at the surface and continued the dive with another guest.
Not realizing immediately that it was an inflator issue was due to the guide’s lack of judgment, and this was a serious mistake.
For the second dive, the same BCD was used with additional weight. However, the air continued to inflate uncontrollably. The guest eventually noticed the issue and informed the guide. The guide then disconnected the low-pressure hose, gave an OK signal, and continued the dive. Since the inflator button could no longer be used, the diver had to stay negatively buoyant throughout the dive.
In such cases, once equipment failure is identified, the dive should be aborted immediately. This was not handled correctly.
During the dives, we caused fear and discomfort to our guests. After returning to land, when they tried to check in at the hotel, their room was not ready due to a miscommunication between the hotel owner and reception staff. Although the reservation had been made, the guests had to wait for about an hour.
This hotel issue could have been avoided if I had reconfirmed the booking the day before, so I will make sure to double-check in advance moving forward.
Recently, there are days when I can personally guide, and other times when local guides take over. Of course, we will ensure proper equipment maintenance, but I also strongly feel that we must train our local guides to provide the same level of care and attention as Japanese staff, even when I am not present.
I sincerely apologize to H-san and S-san for the many shortcomings on my part and for causing fear and inconvenience during your experience.
From now on, our entire team will be even more committed to safety, ensuring that no accidents occur, and striving to provide a safe and enjoyable diving experience for all our guests.

Unfortunately, the weather was bad and it was raining all day…

It’s rare to have this kind of weather here, and the water felt freezing

But we still enjoyed lots of nudibranchs, crustaceans, gobies, and more.
We were originally planning to do 3 dives, but because of the weather, we finished after 2 dives

Tonight we’re going to a local BBQ place.
It’s cheap and the portions are big, so you should definitely try it at least once‼️

Hello!

This is Kenta.
Today we started early with two thresher shark dives.

After lunch, we’ll be diving around Malapascua.
On the first dive this morning, there were lots of threshers, so it was great.

But on the second dive, murky water came in, visibility dropped badly, and there were so many divers, so we only managed to see them briefly.
Honestly, it was harder to find a spot without divers…
This afternoon we’ll take it easy with some macro diving,

and tonight we’re planning to have Italian food together

Hello♪
This is Kenta!

Recently, the north wind has been getting colder, and surface intervals on the boat have been really chilly

Malapascua is one of the colder areas in Cebu during this season, with water temperatures dropping to around 25–27°C, so a 5mm wetsuit is recommended.
It’s also a good idea to bring a windbreaker or something similar to stay warm on the boat.

The winds are gradually calming down, and with Chinese New Year coming next month, the island is expected to become lively and festive!

Hello
This is Gucci.
Today I helped with boat maintenance.
Replacing the propeller shaft was quite a challenge.
It's nice to have something new!
Also, the locking plate on the outside of the toilet was broken, and the other day, I got locked out a few times while using the toilet, so I fixed that too.
I don't think I'll get locked out again.
By the way, I was a victim too lol.
To everyone coming to Malapascua, please look forward to our newly maintained boat!

It's Gucci.
Today, I'm introducing a restaurant!
If you're looking for authentic local food, I recommend this place!
There are a variety of food stalls, and they all look delicious.
If you go during the day, you might wonder what kind of place it is, but at night, the atmosphere is great.
It's popular with tourists, too.
If you're ever in Malapascua, be sure to give it a try!

It's Gucci.
Today, I walked around the island setting up my camera and booking a hotel.
I'd like to introduce some of the great things about remote islands.
Living on a remote island has its advantages as well as disadvantages, and I realized this morning.
With the beach right in front of you, the sunrise and sunset are incredibly beautiful!
Why not try watching the sunset for yourself?

Good evening
This is Gucci.
I did three dives today.
Two Yellow Shoal
One Monad Shoal
At Yellow Shoal, I saw schools of thresher sharks, barracudas, and bigeye trevally.
I was thrilled to see my first thresher shark.
The closest I got to one was just a few meters away.
There were also lots of schools of bigeye trevally, which was great.
At Monad Shoal, I saw red-margin shrimp goby, wedge-spot damsels (not found in Japan), and white-spotted garden eels.
I saw my first white-spotted garden eels, and they were adorable.
I'm looking forward to enjoying life in Malapascua!

You can experience diving without a license, and the name of the “Experience Diving” Mactan store is held every day.
Two customers were challenged to experience such diving today!
The place is the point where there are a lot of tropical fish such as beautiful Sumilon Island of coral reef, anemone fish and purple beauty.
At first, I was in charge of a cute Misaki instructor, but because of the sudden use of the Misaki Intra, the Uncle's Intra suddenly responded ..., the result ... naturally, a great success! ! !
Both of them were diving so well that it wasn't the first time.
Perhaps the next time I am convinced that I will come to Santander as a diver.

It is difficult to distinguish the sunset from the Asahi in the photo, but this is the Asahi photo.
Below the palm tree is a great place to take a commemorative photo of a customer who came on a day tour.
There is no doubt that it will be a tropical island with palm trees and a blue sea.
